Jane Lovett Holt


Award winning Little Rock artist Jane Dees Lovett Holt began her study of painting with Jack Diner, highly regarded medical illustrator, board certified ocularist and medical sculptor, at The Arkansas Arts Center.  After graduating from the University of Arkansas with a BA in Art she studied portraiture with internationally renowned Michael Shane Neal and by invitation Jane painted with Jeff Legg, Master Painter and Jurist for the Oil Painters of America, in France as part of the Plein Air Masters’ Program. 
 
Jane paints in oil from life, either en plein air or with a model, and is a Founding Member of the Portrait Society of America and an Associate Member of the Oil Painters of America.  She taught art in public, private schools, as well as, giving private art lessons.  Her work has been featured in the American Art Collector magazine and other publications.

Her soft realism oil paintings are in national and international collections, including the Arkansas Court of Appeals, the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion and the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute.  She painted two triptych’s (6’ x 12’) for St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Little Rock and has work displayed in the new Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, AR.  Jane also did her husband’s, Jack Wilson Holt, Jr, official portrait which hangs in the Arkansas Supreme Court Building where he served as Chief Justice from 1985-1995.  These are all part of permanent collections.  

Jane had a one woman exhibit at Wildwood Park for the Arts in Little Rock, AR.  This Art in the Park show contained over eighty works by the artist; this show was up April through May of 2016.  Jane is the Featured Artist for June 2016 at the Butler Center Galleries Little Rock.  Jane is represented by the Butler Center Galleries, 401 President Clinton Avenue.
